Creating Portable Network Deployments for AutoCAD 2010 or Other AutoCAD 2010−Based Products Autodesk AutoCAD and AutoCAD based software can be distributed from network shares using pre-configured deployments. At times it may be necessary to create the deployments locally and move them to a shared location separately.Typically when creating an image, the files are written to a Universal Naming Convention (aka UNC) path. This path is usually the destination from where the files will be shared, but it can also be a local directory or another interimlocation .In some situations it may be necessary to create the deployments on one volume and move them to another. While this is not described in the standard instructions, it is possible to do so with some minor manual modifications. When an attempt is made to do this type of deployment, a warning is given. You can continue to perform the installation this way, but this path will be written to a few key areas that will need to be modified after the deployment has been moved to its final destination. Failure to do so will render the deployment unusable. This is true of moving any deployment after it has been created. Our users will have read only permission to this directory, and we do not care to track who installed the software, from where or when. If you do want to track that kind of information, see the Installation Logs topic within the Permission Considerations and Deployment Options in the section below.
